SharePoint Specialist

ARServices is seeking a Knowledge Management / SharePoint Administrator to join our team. This professional will be responsible for planning, designing, troubleshooting, and day-to-day support for the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Research and Development (R&D) Knowledge Management SharePoint portal.  The position is primarily located at the ARServices office in Alexandria, VA and with on-site support, as required, at the DLA headquarters in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Principal Duties

  • Understand DLA R&D information requirements and develop solutions via SharePoint for the efficient handling of information and resources
  • Translate DLA R&D domain and expert technical knowledge into appropriate automated solutions
  • Develop IT requirements documents that support the R&D program and financial management processes that garner visibility, transparency, and access to financial and program information
  • Design, develop, debug, and implement SharePoint applications and troubleshoot production problems related to software applications, including post migration to Microsoft SharePoint On-Line O365
  • Develop, improve and maintain the current DLA R&D SharePoint portal site
  • Educate, monitor and ensure organizational use of Knowledge Management processes and tools
  • Daily activities include:
    • Develop custom process solutions and workflows utilizing SharePoint Designer and associated customer approved software as needed, meeting and documenting all to customer standards and policies
    • Provide technical expertise to customers at all levels of technical ability by assisting them with requirements definition and providing them with custom SharePoint 2016/Microsoft 365 Cloud environment solutions and complex workflows
  • Analyze business requirements; assess alternatives; and configure and/or develop SharePoint 2016/Microsoft 365 Cloud web parts, pages, and navigation
  • Remain in close contact with the R&D staff to meet their needs on the portal and respond rapidly to any change in requirements


  • Active SECRET security clearance, and ability to maintain
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university in business related discipline (for example, logistics, industrial engineering, management, economics, finance, information technology)
  • Minimum five (5) years demonstrated hands-on SharePoint Development a must (including customized code, maintaining/creating web parts, and maintaining/creating workflows)
  • At least two (2) years of recent experience within a DoD organization, including support to DLA R&D programs or equivalent R&D programs
  • In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft platforms (IIS, .NET, Web Services, SQL Server, Windows Server, Office 365)
  • Proficiency in HTML, VB Script, XML and Microsoft ASP.Net
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification OR Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) certification
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Project and Visio
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience presenting to multiple audiences (e.g., technical and non-technical, executive-level)
  • Creative thinker; strong analytical, multi-tasking, and interpersonal skills
